What is Celebrate Recovery?
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-step recovery program to help people suffering from hurts, habits, and hang-ups find support, peace, and wholeness. This program at a glance looks similar to AA, but in Celebrate Recovery Jesus is our only higher power.
What can I expect at a Celebrate Recovery meeting?
Our weekly meetings have two segments: Large Group Meeting and Small Groups. (Each segment is approximately an hour long.) Ministry leaders will help you get acclimated. It helps to come a few minutes earlier than the start time.
In the Large Group Meeting, everyone is in the same room together. Participants experience worship and prayer, teachings that are recovery-related, testimonies from people who have walked through the process, and celebration of individual recovery milestones. After the Large Group meeting ends, people go to their Small Groups.
Small Groups are gender-specific (men only meet with men, women only meet with women). As our CR chapter grows, groups will form that are both gender and issue-specific (for example, a women’s addiction group may form in the future, or a men’s sexual purity group may form). We do not have any issue-specific small groups at this time. During Small Groups, each person is given the opportunity to share without interruption or unsolicited advice about their struggles, their feelings, and/or next steps they are taking in recovery.
what about confidentiality?
At Celebrate Recovery, confidentiality is a top priority. Confidentiality makes our meetings a safe place where people can be open about their hurts, habits, and hang-ups. This means who we see and what we hear at Celebrate Recovery is confidential. Participants take with them their own recovery story and the lessons they learn in recovery meetings to share with others, but not the identity and personal stories of others.
What are issues that Celebrate Recovery can help?
